Hey... if you're into checking out independent short films, click this link to see the trailer for "Witt's Daughter". It's written, directed & produced by my friend, Carole Holliday.
Carole is a talented story artist who has worked on several Disney & Dreamworks projects. Like me, she wanted to try her hand at live action filmmaking. So check out the site & read her blog. I think she did good!
But neither of us has figured out a way to make money on a short film.

Thanks for the link. I think I had heard that Carole had also delved into live-action film making but I didn't know the details.
And (small world) I notice on the credits for Carole's movie the the guy who did the music for the film is another friend , Gregory Hinde who I worked with at Disney and Baer Animation in CA.
I was just thinking about Greg because I posted the Roger Rabbit crew photo (the L.A. Dale Baer-led unit) and I was looking at all those faces today when I posted the photo and wondering what a lot of them were up to nowadays.
If you go to my blog:

chronicles and check out the Sept. 11 posting you can see the photo .
Gregory Hinde is seated at the far left side of the photo , in the front row. That's Dave Bossert right above him (I think you probably know Dave, right? ) . Sitting next to Gregory Hinde on his right is Gilda Palinginis-Kourous. The other bearded gent on Gilda's right is RR Cinematographer Dean Cundey
(DP on many of Bob Z's films) .
I hope both you and Carole do well on the festival circuit. I don't know if there's any way to make money on a short , but hopefully it functions as calling card that leads to an opportunity to direct a feature.
Thanx for the encouragement, Dave. Yes, I enjoyed the photo, though you are the only person I know personally in it.
By the way, I figured out a way to raise a budget (including festival entries) for a short film. Not really a profit margin, but at least I'll have less of a chance of going broke to support my habit. What is it, you ask: Corporate sponsorship.
Hey Tim,
Thanks so much for mentioning me and my film. You're swell! I returned the favor on my Facebook page, since I'm pretty sure more people will see it there than my nascent blog! I'm looking forward to seeing your film, and I hope I can catch it at the Cinema City Festival on September 29th at 12:00pm!
