On the asphalt next to the collection container was this old photograph.
A lovely portrait from someone's wedding day.
A lovely portrait from someone's wedding day.It is in near perfect condition. It is an original photographic print, not something from an inkjet printer. It has been trimmed to 1.5 x 3" and has "43" stamped on the back (a photographer's proof number most likely).
It is a mystery to me who this is and why someone would throw it away. Maybe it was an accident. After all, I almost threw away an expensive set of scissors with the newspapers because someone had been clipping coupons and they had gotten gathered up in the pile.
The bride looks in her mid to late 20s, and the style of dress (not that I am a fashion expert) looks like something from the 40s. If I am correct, that would put the bride in her 80s today, assuming she is still alive.
Who do you suppose this is, and why was the photo discarded?
I am open to any theories, conjectures or hard facts anyone may have to offer.

Hey Tim,
One thing you can do is take it to your local library and see if someone there can tell you where the houses in the background might be located. Someone might recognize them, or they might be able to put you in touch with a local historian who could help you place the houses. Once you can locate where the picture was taken, then you could see if anyone in the library might have access to old phone books or something that would contain people's names that lived during that era.
Another thing I would do is go back and look in the recycling container, even if it's messy. Someone may have thrown away an entire photograph album that belonged to a relative that has since passed away, and this one picture slipped out of the photo album. I know it's sad to think that someone would do that, but I've seen that sort of thing happen, even in my own family. Sometimes younger members of the family don't understand the importance of keeping memories of their family's heritage.
It looks like she was married somewhere between mid spring and early fall, since she's wearing a short-sleeved gown. She's standing in a back yard, that looks pretty big, so if those houses still exist, it's probably going to be a much older part of town. Or is she standing in a park? What is that behind her veil on the right side of the photo? Is it a park bench? (It looks too long for a park bench) Or is it a fence? From the looks of what's underneath it, it looks like a park bench. Is there a park in an older part of town in the area?
I know this is all a long shot, but maybe some of these thoughts might help.

She was tall, so she probably married a man with alot of confidence, and she looks beautiful, so he probably was good at telling her how much she amazes him. Some one is desparately looking for this image that slipped off the mirror in her room in the assisted living facility... she lives in alone.
To me it looks like she was in some sort of park.. or maybe the yard of a church. In the back ground it looks like there is a walkway with possibly a bench there and past that looks like a fences with some maybe some hedges.. but they look bare if that is what I am seeing.. then the line of trees and a the houses beyond that...To bad there are no other details to go on here...
